Bisbee Turquoise in quartz matrix

Bisbee Turquoise is one of the rarest and most sought after varieties of turquoise in the world. It is desirable for both it’s vivid color and it’s lavender/chocolate matrix. Bisbee Turquoise has not been mined in over 40 years! It is also one of the most recognizable turquoise in the world, with only Persian Turquoise having a similar appearance.

The difference is that the Persian turquoise host rock has a shiny or “metallic” appearance. The blue turquoise is a very similar hue of blue.

Smoky Bisbee Turquoise

Most collectors do not realize that Bisbee Turquoise can also be green in color. It can come in different varieties such as “smoky” electric blue, spiderweb, and waterweb.

Although the vast majority of turquoise is found in the top 100 feet of soil above copper deposits, Bisbee Turquoise has been found 1000 feet deep!
